Community College?

The Best Deal in Town!

If you or your student are looking for affordable and accessible post-secondary education and training for in-demand careers, then look no farther than your local community college. As noted in the report on American competitiveness released by the Domestic Policy Council, Office of Science and Technology Policy, "Community colleges make great training providers because they are affordable, accessible, and, perhaps most important, adaptable." They are considered a vital component to produce a well-educated and skilled workforce to compete with the best and brightest around the world.

Chesterfield students are truly blessed because they have two quality community colleges within minutes from their homes. John Tyler Community College is the main service provider for Chesterfield County students and has several locations for classes around the county. North of the James River, J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College provides some programs that are not offered in Chesterfield. Regardless of your location in the county, there is a community college nearby.

Many courses in Chesterfield County Public Schools offer dual enrollment credit that is credit that counts toward high school graduation and credit toward a community college degree. These courses can be used to earn a community college degree and or can transfer to a state supported four year college in Virginia. This is a great way to earn college credits at no cost.

From those students who need help in deciding what career path to follow to those students who want the latest training for in-demand careers, community colleges have something to offer everyone. Check out the websites for the community colleges in our area:
