According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Fall 2004 Salary Survey, here are the starting salaries for those college majors that are in demand.

Notice these two major points considering salaries:

1. The highest salaries are those that have the highest math and science requirements. Many of these starting salaries are above the median per capita averages for the state and county.

2. Many of the starting salaries at the lower end of the scale are below many careers that require no college degree. The type of degree makes a big difference concerning salaries. Many careers with associate degrees or industry certifications earn more than careers with four-year college degrees.
